Visiting the ATM Cave was already something I was excited about, but meeting Ian made the whole experience even better. From the moment we started the hike, he brought a mix of humor and calm energy that made everyone feel at ease. He wasn’t just there to guide us, he made it feel like we were exploring with a friend who actually knew what he was doing.
As we made our way through the jungle, Ian kept cracking jokes that somehow made the long walk feel shorter. Every time someone looked a little tired or unsure, he’d lighten the mood with a quick comment that had everyone laughing. At the same time, he was constantly checking on us, making sure no one was falling behind or struggling too much.
When we reached the cave entrance, I got a bit nervous seeing the dark opening and fast-moving water. Ian noticed immediately and reassured me with a smile, explaining exactly what to do step by step. His instructions were clear and simple, and he stayed close as we swam in, making sure everyone felt safe.
Inside the cave, he balanced everything perfectly. He shared detailed and interesting information about the Maya and the history of the cave, but never made it feel like a lecture. Even in such a serious and sacred place, he found moments to ease the tension with light humor while still being respectful.
By the end of the tour, it was obvious that Ian wasn’t just a guide, he genuinely cared about the people he was leading. He made sure we were safe, comfortable, and actually enjoying ourselves the whole time. The ATM Cave was incredible on its own, but Ian’s personality, jokes, and helpful nature made it an experience I’ll never forget.
